Welcome to the final results of our DCI Imperialism Map Project! If you are new to this series, we strongly encourage you to read the introduction first to get an understanding of the project and how it was structured.

The 2024 Drum Corps International season is officially in the books. Congratulations to all of the corps that competed and especially to the Bluecoats who claimed this year's championship and the second in their corps' history. Additional congratulations go out to Spartans who claimed their second consecutive Open Class championship and undefeated season, as well as Reading Buccaneers who won the inaugural All Age class championship.

The end of the season also means the first year of our Imperialism Map project has come to its conclusion. After it's all said and done, land for 3109 counties was awarded to 29 different corps across all three classes that won at least one of the 82 events that took place this summer. Unsurprisingly, the three class champions - Bluecoats, Spartans, and Reading Buccaneers - led the way with the most shows won. Bluecoats and Spartans also finished atop their classes with the most counties controlled. In All Age class, that title went to Atlanta CV who in large part, controlled the southeast as being the only All Age corps in that part of the country.

The final week of the season saw little action especially in Open Class and All Age classes where championship events were the only remaining events. In World Class, all 21 corps were slated to perform a final regular season on Monday, though the DCI Lake Eerie event was cancelled due to weather. In Canton and Pittsburgh, Bluecoats and Santa Clara Vanguard captured their final wins of the season.

We'll let the remainder of this blog post speak for itself with the final results from the season. Below is a break down by class with the final maps and leaderboards of number of shows and counties won. At the end of the article is a link to a Google Sheets workbook with data from our project including breakdowns by counties and shows. Enjoy!

Final Data

Check out this Google sheets workbook if you want to see some of our final data from the project. The Counties tab lists every US county that was up for grabs based on the closest show to it in each of the three classes (keep in mind we didn't consider Alaska or Hawaii in all three classes. In All Age class, only states that hosted at least one show were up for grabs). The Shows tab lists the winner for each class for each show, as well as the number of counties that were up for grabs for that particular show.
