Welcome to Week 4 in our DCI Imperialism Map Project! If you are new to this series, we strongly encourage you to read the introduction first to get an understanding of the project and how it will be structured.

Well, well, well.....what a week of competition we just had in the 2024 DCI season. Even with only a little more than a dozen shows on the circuit, it was nothing short of an exciting week highlighted by a couple of firsts in Murfreesboro - the first time that Phantom Regiment beat Carolina Crown in head to head competition since the first show of the 2012 season and the first EVER that Boston Crusaders beat Blue Devils. Both instances repeated themselves Saturday night at the Southeastern Championship in Atlanta, setting up what may be an exciting race amongst the two pairs of corps in the final days of the season.

Bluecoats were away from competition for most of the week, but rejoined tour on Friday in Murfreesboro for the start of three wins in as many days to extend their season long undefeated streak. Their lead on the map stays strong with counties 604 controlled, while Santa Clara Vanguard won two shows, and Crown, Colts, and Blue Devils each won one (note that Blue Devils show win was the result of a cancellation due to inclement weather).

The Open Class tour continued in the midwest with all four shows won by Spartans, while Guardians ended their 2024 season strong with their final performance earlier in the week on Monday in Mesquite. In All Age class, five different corps won a total of six shows, headlined by Reading Buccaneers who continue their dominance on the east coast and became the first All Age corps to break 90 this season.

Below is a break down of where the maps for each class stand after the fourth week, as well lists of each show and their show winners, and total number of shows and counties won by each corps.

Looking Ahead to Week 5

It's hard to believe, but we're already down to the final two weeks of the season! This week, the World Class tour swings to the north along the east coast with stops in Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The week concludes with the two night, historically beloved Eastern Classic in Allentown, PA where corps will have one of their final chances to make a statement heading into World Championships week. Another notable event will take place in Rochester, NY with a combined 11 corps between World and All Age classes. Open Class continues their journey through the midwest as Columbians, River City Rhythm, and Colt Cadets are set to hop on midweek. By this time next week, Open Class corps will stationed in Marion, IN for the start of Open Class World Championships - the end of the season really is near!
