Welcome to Week 1 in our DCI Imperialism Map Project! If you are new to this series, we strongly encourage you to read the introduction first to get an understanding of the project and how it will be structured.
The 2024 DCI season officially kicked off on June 26th and is already off to a hot start through the first week and a half. Through July 7th, there have been 21 shows including one that was rained out and two that were exhibition only events.
The season has already seen a lot of exciting competition. In the Midwest, Boston Crusaders kicked off the season with a victory at the season premiere, only to finish second place behind Carolina Crown two nights later. Bluecoats bested both corps in their season debut on July 9th in the only meetup of three corps until Broken Arrow next week. Meanwhile out west, Blue Devils handily won all five shows in California, extending their unbeaten streak to 1,795 days since they last came in second at the 2019 World Championship prelims.
Much like their older "siblings", Blue Devils B has controlled Open Class with four wins of their own. On the opposite coast, Spartans kicked off their title-defending season with a win over 7th Regiment in Connecticut. River City Rhythm, Colt Cadets, and Columbians have all notched wins of their own, though many of them coming as being the only Open Class representatives at a show.
Rounding out the competition, the first full season of DCI All Age class has seen an exciting start with nine corps already making their season debuts, six of them coming in Connecticut won by Reading Buccaneers. Cincinnati Tradition, Govenaires, and Rogues Hollow Regiment all won shows in the midwest while Atlanta CorpsVets' debut at NightBEAT was rained out, though they were still awarded the show's land on the map as being the only All Age corps at the competition.
Below is a break down of where the maps for each class stand after the first week, as well lists of each show and their show winners, and total number of shows and counties won by each corps.

Looking Ahead to Week 2
As of publishing on Tuesday, July 9, we have 15 more shows this week through Sunday, July 15. This also doesn't include three shows that took place yesterday (one of which was cancelled due to a stadium power outage). By this time next week, much more of the map will be filled out as shows on the west coast wrap up and corps begin traveling east for Texas Tour. Be sure to check back next week as we continue our DCI Imperialism Map series!
